  • The GOP always represents the monied interests, in this case the insurance companies who are dead set against a "public option" healthcare plan. The GOP is the reason 45 million Americans don't have healthcare and millions more are under-insured or facing bankruptcy due to healthcare bills.

  • You're not fully informed. Obama and the Democrats have addressed the collapse in home prices with "short selling" programs that enable homeowners to get out from under mortgages they can't afford without being financially ruined forever.

  • Obama is right, but the Feds should order all banks and mortgage companies to drop their interest rates on ALL existing loans to about 4%. Banks are getting money from the Fed at close to 0%. This refinancing should be done without new appraisals or closing costs - just tell the banks to do it.

  • There is a program to assist homeowners to "short sell" their homes for current market value even if it's less than they owe. The bank and probably the Fed share the loss, but the homeowner can get out of the house without being ruined. It's better than bankruptcy or foreclosure.

  • The Republicans needed something to make themselves look populist and the tiny tax cuts were all they could come up with. They have never cared for balanced budgets or long tern national investments of any kind. The Dems could have done better without accommodating the GOP.
